Description

The workshop is part of an international research collaboration in high‑performance computing (HPC) and artificial intelligence (AI), involving leading American, European, and Japanese research institutions in these areas. It is integrated into the series of workshops and initiatives of the International Post‑Exascale (InPEx) Project.

Holding this workshop for the first time in Latin America positions Brazil at the forefront of the international HPC and AI landscape.

Considering the development of the Brazilian Plan for AI (PBIA), it represents an opportunity to place Brazil among the leading global centers in the field, strengthening cooperation with these international institutions and fostering collaboration with partners across Latin America.

The main objective of the InPEx project is to coordinate global efforts in the exascale and post‑exascale computing era, focusing on:

  • Convergence of HPC and AI: Development of large language models (LLMs) for scientific use and evaluation of AI technologies on supercomputers.
  • Software Management: Creation of tools and methods for the management, packaging, and long‑term sustainability of large‑scale scientific software.
  • Co‑design: Collaboration among hardware, software, and application developers to optimize performance on future systems.
  • Data Management: Solutions for handling the massive volumes of data generated by scientific experiments and large‑scale simulations.
  • Energy Sustainability: Research on the energy and environmental impact of high‑performance computing systems.

The event aims to bring together leading international scientists in HPC and to foster closer engagement between Brazilian researchers and this community. Its content is intended to contribute to discussions on research infrastructure and software stacks for the development of Artificial Intelligence in Brazil.
